Turkish bath (hammam) design and installation in Mallorca

Steam therapy and interior architecture

The hammam, or Turkish bath, is a thermal installation based on high ambient humidity. Unlike a traditional sauna, it operates at a relative humidity of nearly 100% and a mild temperature (around 45°C). This thermodynamic combination requires state-of-the-art waterproofing and precision steam generators to ensure a comfortable experience and prevent structural condensation within the building.

At Piscina & Jardín, we design customised steam rooms, integrating state-of-the-art climate control technology with premium materials that guarantee a completely watertight finish and impeccable aesthetics in Mallorca.

Frequently asked questions about Turkish bath (hammam) installation

To answer your questions quickly and easily, we have put together the following section of Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ).

Steam therapy offers wide-ranging health benefits. Regular use improves blood circulation through the water vapour it generates. The ambient humidity also encourages the elimination of toxins and is ideal for combating fatigue and muscle tension.
The hammam operates at a moderate temperature (between 40°C and 45°C) but with 100% relative humidity. The Finnish sauna works in the opposite way, using extremely dry heat at much higher temperatures (up to 90°C).
Absolutely. A wide range of finishes is available, from the most traditional to striking contemporary designs. We work with everything from traditional mosaic to continuous mineral coatings with perimeter LED lighting.
It is a strict requirement of fluid dynamics. A flat ceiling would cause condensed steam to fall as cold droplets onto users, ruining the experience. A vault or slope allows the water to run down the walls to the drainage system.

A fully insulated and waterproofed space is required, with a floor drain, a direct water supply for the steam generator, a correctly rated electrical supply and a small adjacent plant room to house the hardware.

Yes. Our installations allow the steam room to be integrated into the property’s home automation system, incorporating chromotherapy (synchronised LED lighting) and aromatherapy directly into the steam outlet.
