Bayrol Technik has more than 60 years of experience in water treatment and offers a wide range of products developed specifically for the cleaning and disinfection of swimming pools.

Bayrol Technik products are dosed into the skimmer or directly into the pool and are divided into three categories according to specific water conditions and maintenance needs: essential, comfort and problem/solution.

Indispensable

Essential products for routine basic water care:

• pH-Minus or pH-Plus to regulate pH levels.

• Extremely effective and long-lasting disinfection with slow-dissolving chlorine (Chlorilong®) or bromine (Aquabrome®).

• Pool test strips for basic water analysis.

CoMfort

Includes a range of pool care products that make it simple and practical to keep your pool water crystal-clear and silky-smooth:

• Chlorilong® ULTIMATE 7 and Chlorilong® POWER 5, two multi-functional chlorine products for water disinfection.

• Desalgine® and Desalgine® Jet to prevent algae growth.

• Superflock Plus, which prevents water from becoming cloudy using a chemical process called flocculation.

• Protect&Shine prevents calcium scaling and keeps the pool water crystal-clear.

• Puripool® Super, ideal for winterising the pool as it prevents algae growth and limescale precipitation.

• Pool test strips that measure pH, disinfectant and total available chlorine (TAC) for accurate water analysis.

Problem/Solution

Two super-chlorination products are:

• Clorifix® (fast-dissolving granulated chlorine).

• Chloriklar® (effervescent chlorine tablets that dissolve quickly and are easy to dose).

How to deal with poor water quality?

Milky, foul-smelling swimming pool water

• Causes: excess organic load, disinfectant shortage or dirty filter.

• Solutions:
1) brush mineral deposits from the pool walls and bottom
2) vacuum your pool
3) clean the pool filter
4) adjust the pH to between 7.0 and 7.4 using pH-Minus or pH-Plus
5) carry out shock chlorination with Chlorifix® or Chloriklar®
6) place a Superflock Plus liquid flocculant cartridge in the skimmer basket

Cloudy water and swimming pool walls that feel like sandpaper

• Causes: precipitation of calcium carbonate in water and limescale deposits on walls.

• Solutions:
1) brush the pool walls to remove calcium scale
2) vacuum the bottom of the pool with a pool cleaner
3) use Calcinex® to prevent limescale from re-adhering to the walls

Green swimming pool water and slimy bottom and walls

• Causes: the presence of algae in the pool water.

• Solutions:
1) brush the walls to remove algae
2) clean the pool filter
3) adjust the pH to between 7.0 and 7.4 using pH-Minus or pH-Plus
4) carry out shock chlorination with Chlorifix® or Chloriklar®
5) apply a preventive algaecide treatment with Desalgine® or Desalgine® Jet
6) place a Superflock Plus cartridge in the skimmer
7) let the water circulate for at least 24 hours until it is transparent again

Green or brown swimming pool water after dosing chlorine

• Causes: corrosion due to excessively low pH or presence of iron ions from iron-rich well water.

• Solutions:
1) check the alkalinity of the water and increase it with Alca-Plus® if it has fallen below 100 mg/L
2) adjust the pH to between 7.0 and 7.4 using pH-Minus or pH-Plus
3) remove iron ions by placing a Superflock Plus cartridge in the skimmer
4) let the water circulate for at least 24 hours until it is transparent again
5) if the water is still cloudy, add another Superflock Plus cartridge to the skimmer

Shiny metallic-blue swimming pool water and green-tinted hair after the swim

• Causes: the presence of copper ions in the pool water due to corrosion or the use of copper-based algaecides.

• Solutions:
1) temporarily raise the pH value of the pool water between 7.5 and 7.8
2) to remove the copper ions from the water, place a Superflock Plus cartridge in the skimmer
3) let the water circulate for at least 24 hours until it is transparent again
4) always use algaecides that do not contain copper, e.g. Desalgine®

Chlorine-smelling swimming pool water that irritates the eyes

• Causes: excess organic load due to insufficient chlorine dosing leading to the development of chloramines, a type of organic amine that is produced when chlorine and ammonia react with each other.

• Solutions:
1) check the alkalinity of the water and increase it with Alca-Plus® if it has fallen below 100 mg/L
2) adjust the pH to between 7.0 and 7.4 using pH-Minus or pH-Plus
3) carry out shock chlorination with Chlorifix® or Chloriklar®
4) increase clean water intake by extending the backwash time to remove filtered debris in the pool treatment system
5) clean and disinfect the pool filter
6) place a Superflock Plus cartridge in the skimmer basket to remove turbidity from the pool water
